Meeting: leasing farmland for gas and oil production

With energy costs creeping ever higher, unrest in the Middle East and the discovery of the Marcellus Shale in NY, PA, WV and Ohio, gas and oil leasing of land here in Ohio is becoming increasing common. 

The OSU Wayne County Extension and the Ohio Farm Bureau are sponsoring a 2 night informational event in Wooster regarding leasing farmland for gas and oil production.

Tuesday, February 21st
  • Basic Lease Considerations, Working with Landowner Groups; presented by Clif Little, Extension Educator, Noble & Guernsey County
  • Economic and Community Impacts including social and environmental issues; presented by Chris Penrose, Extension Educator, Morgan County
Tuesday, March 6th
  • State regulation and oversight of deep shale oil and gas wells; presented by ODNR Oil & Gas Division
  • Water Quality Issues, Water testing and third party certification; presented by Deana Hudgins,OARDC

Cost: Two night series $15/person or couple.  Members of the Ohio Farm Bureau should show their membership card and the cost will be covered by WCFB.
